Honey Run Quilters opened as Chico's first full service quilt shop in 1991. Since that time HRQ has evolved along with the quilting community. Carmen Rolfe purchased the store in 2008. Located along the historic Esplanade in a turn of the century home, Carmen, along with her daughter Amanda and an enthusiastic staff offer years of experience in a warm, friendly environment for quilters and sewists. The wonderful shop also boasts a spacious classroom for the wide variety of classes offered on the store's schedule. It includes a monthly Friday Nite Live, a full evening of sewing on your favorite project and a scrumptious potluck! Teachers of local, national and international regard come to Honey Run to share their talent with resident quilting enthusiasts. Late August 2009, the classroom will undergo a major renovation, increasing it's appeal to class-goers. Honey Run Quilters is a contemporary quilt shop priding itself on a huge selection of fabrics and patterns from top designers representing the latest trends in the textile marketplace. HRQ has embraced the Do-It-Yourself revolution catering to a new generation of quilters and home sewers, as well as to those who prefer a more traditional style. Recently, Honey Run Quilters has been named as a Top Ten Quilt Shop in America and Canada by Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler Magazine. The store will be featured in the Fall 2009 edition which is set to release on September 9th, 2009. Carmen, along with her staff designed and created a beautiful quilt which will be showcased in the magazine. A most prestigious honor which has brought much excitement to the store, it's customers and staff! Carmen and Amanda feel in a town such as Chico, giving back to their community is part of their responsibility as small business owners; thus supporting non-profit organizations including the Butte County Humane Society, Chico Cat Coalition and Evan's Heart Foundation.
